On his way to the 2019 MMOPA Convention that’s going on as I type this, Rick Converse stopped at KJSO to get his Tailwheel Endorsement with Joe. After he knocked it out (which took less than two days to accomplish), we sat down with him to talk about his experience with tailwheel training as well as some other, more PA46-specific points like his awesome new panel in his 2003 Meridian.
As another pilot who recently got his tailwheel endorsement, I can fully attest to the fact that the process makes you a better pilot. You have no margin for error when landing a tail dragger, and the necessity for perfection sharpens your footwork up like nothing else can.
